April 6, 2012
We
are thankful for Good Friday and realize once again that without this Friday in
history we would not celebrate the Risen God on Easter Sunday, also realizing
that without Good Friday and Easter, Rene and I would most likely not be in Haiti. Thank you for joining us in this adventure.

3/8/2012 It was moving - A little rattle - we felt it |
|
We were just getting ready for bed and all at once ...., our bed and the house moved, we definetly felt it and went outside for a bit. Later we found out it was a 4.6 earth quake. Living on the top floor was just a reminder of the reality that if something happens we are living on top floor, with no outside stairs to get down to the main floor. The picture is of the place we are staying, we live all the way on the top, our room is connected to the roof. What you see here is downstairs, first floor and the outside balcony of the roof. After an hour we went back inside and went to sleep, at least tried to sleep. A new morning and day definitely brings a new meaning to life.

2/27/2012 Haitian Prime Minister resigns |
|
Never a dull moment, will it ever change? Here is a
brief article about the resignation of the Prime Minister, Garry Conille, who
had been in office for only 4 months.
The article
expresses concern from the UN and of course we can use this in prayer for the
people of Haiti who are now essentially without functioning government.

2/27/2012 A great week behind us |
|

Time sure flies and before you know it a week has gone by. We had a wonderful week staying close to the village where we are working joined by some special people from CA and an unexpected addition of two people from FL. Painting homes, visiting compounds performing medical consultations and great times at one of the christian schools.
We are doing well; the first 18 days in February, I (Marianne) have had an
injury in my back and leg, called primofmis syndrome – something fairly common
with runners and joggers, especially when you run on uneven surfaces. I barely could walk. Here in
Haiti we run on rough roads most of the time. I am so thankful that I now have been without pain for one week. In the beginning even painkillers did not work
but I finally found some that help and yes I also do exercises. We’re happy things are improving. I hope to be able to go out and hit the pavement again real soon...
A couple of important issues for your attention and
